Yan

Meet Yan - our newest team member and definitely the one with the shortest commute. She lives close to our workroom, which means she can quite literally roll out of bed and straight in to work!

Yan is Michelle’s sister-in-law and has been working with us for the last few years. We trained her completely from scratch, and she’s now the clever pair of hands behind many of our curtain and blind orders. She brings so much care and attention to detail to everything she makes.

When she’s not sewing for us, she’s usually cooking up something delicious or tending to her garden. We’re all very lucky - her home-grown treasures often make their way into the workroom.

We very much enjoy having Yan on the team.

Dave

One of our directors, our master fitter, and the man behind every beautifully installed curtain track, pole, blind and pelmet that leaves our workroom. A carpenter by trade, he’s spent his entire working life in the building world, and last year we were lucky enough to steal him full-time.

If it needs making, building, shaping, or upholstering, Dave is your man. Pelmets, headboards, bespoke upholstered pieces - you name it, he can create it!

He also keeps us endlessly entertained. After a lifetime on building sites, he occasionally forgets he’s now in a soft-furnishing workroom…and let’s just say the language can get a little spicy!

Outside of work, you’ll usually find him washing one of his vehicles - his pride and joy - or out enjoying the freedom of the open road on his motorbike.

Life is never dull with Dave around, and he certainly keeps things interesting in the workroom.

Kerry

Kerry - our sewing superhero.

If there were a Guinness World Record for speed-sewing, Kerry would have it in the bag.

This lady can hand-sew at a speed that would make most sewing machines rethink their purpose.

She’s been with us since the very beginning (with a few well deserved breaks to welcome her three beautiful children)

Kerry is the engine of the workroom - stitching up all of your curtains and blinds, keeping everyone’s weekly schedules in line, and regularly dragging the rest of us forward when we’re drowning in orders. She’s the one who quietly keeps the whole place running, often bailing us out before we even realise we need rescuing.

And she does all of this while juggling life with three children. If one of them is off school or under the weather, she somehow still finds a way to make everything up, stay on track, and keep the workroom flowing. It’s like she has a secret stash of extra hours in her day. We’ve stopped trying to understand it - we just accept that she’s operating on superhero settings.

On top of all that, she keeps tabs on every lining, every roll of stock, and every little thing that would send the rest of us into meltdown if it ran out.

She has her own pair of slippers tucked away in the workroom because, let’s be honest, she basically lives here.

Outside of work (in the tiny scraps of spare time she gets), you’ll find her soaking up a sunset with her family, heading to a concert with her husband, cheering on the Welsh rugby, or disappearing into a good book.

Kerry is a HUGE part of our team - the heartbeat of the workroom - and we genuinely don’t think this place would run without her.

Becky

Becky - Our office manager.

If you’ve ever contacted us, chances are you’ve already met Becky - she’s our front of house and the person who keeps our office running smoothly. She manages everything from administration and accounts to quoting, ordering and invoicing. With the pace of the business, she often jokes that she needs an extra ten pairs of hands…and honestly, we’re inclined to agree.

Becky has spent the past several years juggling work life with raising her two children - a journey that included multitasking office duties alongside fertility treatments. She moved mountains to bring her little ones into the world, and now that her family is complete, she’s ready to pour her full focus back into the business she cares so deeply about.

Outside of work, Becky loves a good walk, a good shop, and spends most of her time running after her two lively children. And for those in the workroom…prepare yourselves. When she returns from her work-from-home role in April, we’ll all be reunited with her legendary brownies - widely regarded as the best you’ll ever taste.

We’re full of excitement for the future of the business, and having Becky at the heart of it makes the journey even sweeter.

Michelle

Michelle is the founder and Director of both companies (Custom Kids Curtains and our sister company Diamond Interior Furnishing) she’s the heartbeat behind everything we do. She genuinely loves her job - fabrics, colours, textures and all the beautiful details that make a house a home.

She prides herself on creating a happy workplace for her team, because she believes that when you are happy you give of your best.

She’s a devoted Mum to five and a very busy Nanny to seven, so her brain rarely gets a moment’s rest. When she does carve out time for herself, you’ll usually find her in her not so little garden, or with her favourite toy, the Kenwood mixer, baking up delicious treats!

We’re incredibly grateful for everything Michelle pours into this business and we truly wouldn’t be who we are without her.

Poppy

Poppy - Our Pocket-Sized Security Guard.

If you’ve ever visited us on a busy day, you may already know Poppy…or at least you’ve heard her. Poppy is our miniature Jack Russell with the confidence of a Great Dane and the bark of a full-time security department. In her mind, every courier is a potential threat, every delivery is a dramatic event, and every knock on the door is her moment to shine.

Despite her tiny size, she takes her ‘job’ very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that she’s currently on a little ‘workplace ban’ after making her presence a bit too well known. Let’s just say the couriers are enjoying the peace and quiet.

But here’s the truth: Poppy is pure love wrapped in a noisy, wiggly, four-legged package. She’s part of our family and part of our team, and the kids absolutely adore her. On the mornings she realises it’s a ‘come to work’ day, she practically vibrates with excitement.

She may be small, she may be loud, and she may have been temporarily banned from the premises…but she’s ours, and we wouldn’t have her any other way!
